Fishing at Howe Park

This week we went fishing at the Howe Park Pond. Cassie had never been fishing before, so I got to show her how. First we rigged the pole, got it baited with garlic marshmallows and then I taught her how to cast. I helped her hold the pole, did a practice swing to get the timing down and then executed a perfect cast. I helped her two more times for perfect casts into the middle of the pond. Then I let her do the whole thing on her own. It was a bit nerve wracking to watch and contemplate weather or not she would toss my $200.00 fishing reel into the pond, but she did it perfectly.

I think Cassie liked the casting part of fishing because we did quite a lot of that. She's a natural with the fishing pole, every time she was able to land the cast right in the middle of the pond.
